It was good to actually watch some jumps racing at the weekend and it’s certainly whetted the appetite so lets hope we can get a full week of racing this week.
The first selection today comes at Hereford and it’s Martin Keighley’s SAMTARA who looks sure to benefit from a step up in trip. A staying on second last time at Warwick over 2m 5f, he takes quite a big step up today to 3m 2f but his pedigree and running style suggests he should appreciate the extra distance and at 5/1 he looks a fair bet. He is certainly on an upward curve and his mark of 108 still looks workable.
The best bet of the day runs at Doncaster and it’s GETAWEAPON for the Kim Bailey yard. The handicapper looks to have been very lenient with her opening mark of 115 and her form took a huge boost at the weekend when Misty Whisky almost won the competitive Lanzarote hurdle. She was just done for a bit of pace by Harry Fry‘s mare at Ludlow the last day but she did stay all the way to the line. This stiffer finish here today should suit and although you would probably rather see her over 3 miles I think she has a good amount in hand that it shouldn’t matter too much.
Hereford 1.20 – Samtara
Doncaster 3.10 – Getaweapon
