Gordon Elliott will deploy several of his charges over the festive period but has confirmed Envoi Allen won’t be one of them.
The six-year-old has triumphed on each of his 10 starts to date, most recently prevailing in the Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse last month.
Envoi Allen was expected to go in search of an 11th successive victory this month, with entries held at Leopardstown and Limerick, but Elliott says his next trip will come at Punchestown in January.
“Envoi Allen is one horse who won’t be in action over Christmas,” Elliott told Betfair.
“We’ve made the decision to head to Punchestown on January 17 for a Grade Three novice chase over two and a half miles and it looks a very suitable race for him before we prepare him for the major spring festivals.”
Elliott will be busy over the festive period, however, with the likes of Felix Desjy, Zanahiyr, Quilixios and Duffle Coat running.
Speaking about Zanahiyr, who looks set to run at Leopardstown on Boxing Day, Elliott added: “He could well run in the Knight Frank Juvenile Hurdle. He’s in great shape and came out of his last run very well, so we’re keen to let him take his chance.”
