Jessica Harrington says another crack at the Grand National remains the ultimate target for Magic Of Light.
The nine-year-old, who was fourth on her comeback outing at Punchestown last month, was runner-up to Tiger Roll in the 2019 Aintree showpiece at a huge 66/1 price and, all being well, the mare will head back to Liverpool in the spring.
The more immediate aim for Harrington‘s charge is Wednesday‘s Pertemps Network Mares’ Chase at Newbury, which Magic Of Light has won for the last two years, although the trainer is keeping a close eye on the weather with more rain a concern.
Harrington said: “She’s going for the hat-trick and has travelled over great. I just don’t want too much rain – that’s my only worry.
“The ground was heavy for her comeback run at Punchestown, and she was running over a distance much too short for her, but it was grand.
“The Grand National is the plan again, all being well.”
Only Noel Williams‘ Sensulano and Fergal O’Brien’s Carrolls Milan line up in opposition to Magic Of Light at Newbury on Wednesday.
