Mullins excited for Monkfish return

Willie Mullins is excited to see Monkfish back in action in the Jim Ryan Racecourse Services Beginners Chase on Saturday.

The six-year-old beat Latest Exhibition by a neck to claim the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last time out and is bidding to pick up from where he left off as he switches to bigger obstacles.

He has always shown signs of being a strong chaser and will get the opportunity to prove his credentials when going out at Fairyhouse on Saturday.

“He jumps well enough at home – and all our novices this season have been jumping well,” Mullins told Racing TV.

“I’m looking forward to getting him out.”

Monkfish’s main rival in the 11-strong field is likely to come in the shape of Gordon Elliott’s Escaria Ten.
