Owner Phil Cunningham says Wonderwall is on track for the Cheltenham Festival in 2021 and could run at Ascot next time out.
The four-year-old made his debut at Ascot last weekend and won handsomely for Rebel Racing, a partnership including Cunningham and trainer Richard Spencer.
Jockey James Bowen guided the 3/1 shot home safely ahead of Hamilton‘s Fantasy and Top of the Bill.
Wonderwall cost ?105,000 at last year’s Goffs Land Rover Sale and Cunningham believes the future is bright for his charge, with a chasing career on his mind.
For now, he could return to Ascot next month, or run in the Winter Bumper at Newbury in February.
Cunningham told reporters: “He’s a lovely horse, he’s very exciting for us. He’s got a couple of options, possibly back at Ascot for the Listed race and then obviously there’s the race in February at Newbury.
“His main objective will, of course, be the Festival Bumper ? that’s the dream. If he’s fit and well he’ll possibly line up at one, or maybe both, of those options on the way.”
