Sam Twiston-Davies is hoping to see even more from Al Dancer when he goes for glory in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham.
The Dai Walters-owned gelding started the season in winning fashion with victory in an intermediate chase at Newton Abbot back in October, and now a trip to Prestbury Park is on the cards.
Jockey Twiston-Davies knows the work that went in to getting that win at Newton Abbot last month and feels the seven-year-old is looking in good shape ahead of a run at Cheltenham on November 14.
“It wasn’t easy for him at Newton Abbot as he wasn’t favoured by the weights,” Twiston-Davies said. “They went a good gallop all the way, but he was a little bit shorter than we would have wanted him.
“He is in great shape and he will now go to the Paddy Power Gold Cup, so fingers crossed it is all go again there.”
