There are a couple of good novice races at Ayr this afternoon and I suspect it may pay to take note of them. The 1.05 looks a belter and I wouldn’t know where to turn in all honesty but I will take a punt in the opening race on the card, the 2m 4f mares novice hurdle.
Paul Nicholls trains the favourite, Whiskey Lullaby, who finished second in a good Newbury bumper on stable debut, looks set to go well on hurdle debut. She is bred for the job and could well be one to follow for a top stable. At the prices though, I’m going to take a punt on WILD POLLY who ran a sound race at Doncaster on hurdle debut in February. She finished close in behind two very nice horses and certainly suggested she could win one of these events in the near future. She has the ability to handle softer conditions which should stand her in good stead here and if the favourite fluffs her lines on hurdle debut, then I fully expect Wild Polly to be there to pick up the pieces.
