The Revenant set for Ascot

Trainer Francis-Henri Graffard has confirmed he intends to run The Revenant in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at later this month.

The Al Asayl France-owned five-year-old enjoyed an impressive seasonal reappearance when winning the Group 2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein at ParisLongchamp on Saturday.

It now looks like being a swift return to action for the chestnut gelding, with Graffard confirming he holds an entry in the QEII on Qipco Champions Day at Ascot on October 17.

The Revenant finished second in the showpiece last year behind ‘s Of Change and Graffard is confident the son of Dubawi can go one better this time around.

“The Revenant will go to Ascot, that’s the plan, but Wooded won’t go there,” Graffard was quoted as saying by TV.

“The Revenant is entered in the QEII (Queen Elizabeth II Stakes) and he’ll have another go ? he ran in the race last year and was second.

“We think he will come on a lot for his run on Saturday, he came out of that race well so the plan is to go to Ascot. He should get his ground again, hopefully.”
