Aidan O’Brien says that Love won’t be taking up an entry for Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe due to unfavourable ground.
The Ballydoyle trainer hinted recently that Love could be pulled out at the final forfeit stage with the ground predicted to be very soft.
With just days to go, O’Brien has followed through and confirmed that the three-year-old won’t be making the trip to Longchamp.
O’Brien told PA: “We had to make the decision today because there was no other stage after this.
“If Ryan (Moore) was declared to ride her he then couldn’t ride anything else (if Love was later taken out), so we had to make the decision today.
“It’s 4.1 on the penetrometer at the moment and there is a lot of rain forecast, it could get to 4.5 so we had to make a choice.
“Sadly I don’t think there’s any prospect of the ground improving much.”
Love was expected to be the main challenger to John Gosden‘s Enable but O’Brien does still have Japan, Sovereign, Mogul and Serpentine among the 15-strong field.
