It was nice to return with a winner yesterday
(although only 6/4) and that has given me a bit of confidence heading in to
today. There are two nice cards at Ayr and at Bangor and I’ve got a fancy at
each.
At
Bangor I think EL BORRACHO is going
to bounce back from a below par run at Stratford last time out and play a
leading role here. His earlier form has worked out very well with Callum
Gilhooley winning twice and Leroy Leroy hosing up at Southwell which suggests
this mark of 118 is well within his reach. His run at Stratford was simply too
bad to be true as he was beat a long way out and I’ll happily put a line
through that. He receives all the weight today and although I worry about the
classy Midnight’s Gift, I do think the selection has her measure.
REDARNA must love the crisp Ayrshire
air as he has a phenomenal course record. 4 wins and 1 place from 6 course runs
and the other run was a close fourth last time out when he looked sure to be at
least placed but tired in the final 50 yards. That was over 1m 2f so the drop
to 7f seems a bit extreme but he boasts 4 wins and 1 place over this course and
distance so it is perhaps a wise move. They tend to get racing quite a way out
at Ayr so his ability to stay further should stand him in good stead and if
James Sullivan can steal a march turning in, they may just struggle to reel him
in.
