Jockey Kazushi Kimura says there is more to come from Breeders’ Cup contender Gretzky The Great.
The Mark Casse-trained star landed the Grade 1 Summer Stakes at Woodbine on Sunday and secured a place in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Keeneland on November 6 in the process.
Kimura, who has two wins in three races on board Gretzky The Great, was delighted with the victory at Woodbine and says the two-year-old can improve further.
“He’s such an amazing horse,” said Kimura, as reported by the Racing Post. “He’s an easy horse ? I mean to control. If I want to do something, I can do anything. When I came to the final turn then came through the final stretch, he had a tremendous explosion. He sometimes was a little bit lugging in, but he’s just still a baby.”
Cadillac is currently rated as the favourite at around 4/1 to win the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, just ahead of Lucky Vega and Wembley.
Gretzky The Great is considered a 12/1 chance by most bookmakers ahead of the Keeneland showpiece.
