Trainer John Gosden says Palace Pier will run at Ascot next after winning the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville.
The three-year-old extended his winning run to five races after holding off the field on Sunday afternoon.
Just 12 months after making his debut at Sandown, Palace Pier made another big statement as he held off Alpine Star.
After getting the better of Pinatubo in June, Palace Pier was the favourite for this weekend’s feature race in France, and he duly delivered.
Jockey Frankie Dettori guided him home in style and even though the heavy ground did not suit, Gosden says he is ready for another run at Ascot.
He told the PA news agency: “I think it was pretty clear watching the race that he wasn’t enjoying the ground. I saw Frankie moving his hands, and he was still fully 600 metres from home, but the horse showed a lot of guts and a lot of class.
“His main target will be the QEII on Champions Day at Ascot. Everything will revolve around that, although most importantly, everything depends on how the horse feels once we get him back home.”
