John Gosden‘s Enable will now have her prep run at Kempton rather than York ahead of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
The six-year-old returned to winning ways in July as she won the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes ahead of Sovereign and Japan.
Enable was thought to be heading to York for her next outing, with a third run in the Yorkshire Oaks under consideration where she was expected to tackle Aidan O’Brien‘s Love, but connections have now confirmed she will head to Kempton.
Teddy Grimthorpe, owner Khalid Abdullah’s racing manager, told reporters: “The Kempton race (September Stakes) worked well a couple of years ago.
“Obviously, the temptation of York was quite a serious one, but we’ve always made it perfectly clear that the Arc is her main objective.
“The four weeks’ timing of the Kempton race before the Arc is probably spot on as well.”
Enable finished second in last year’s Arc to Waldgeist, but she won the race in 2017 and 2018.
