It’s the first day of Glorious Goodwood meeting today and
with a great week ahead I’m trying to hold myself back. The natural instinct is
to plough into all this good action but I don’t think that would be too wise
from a profit making point of view. Select bets is the way forward and I’ve
just two selections on Day 1.
First
up is CELSIUS who looks made for the
5f handicap at 3.45. He loves the course and distance and comes here in good
form after a fine effort from off the pace at Newmarket. He had earlier won at
Haydock, a shade cosy I may add, and hinted at more to come. His rivals look
exposed and if there is one that is going to improve on what we have seen so
far then it’s Tom Clover’s horse.
I’ve
backed TIME VOYAGE a few times this
season and she hasn’t let me down yet so I’m not deserting her now. John
Quinn’s filly looks a strong stayer and although she didn’t scream for the step
up in trip last time out I do think she will enjoy the 12f here. The last day
was a funny sort of race and I still can’t work it out now so I wouldn’t pay
too much attention to it and instead I would draw on her earlier form which
looks strong. With her three year old allowance here she gets in off a lovely
racing weight and I will be disappointed if she isn’t troubling the judge.
Goodwood 3.45 Celsius – 2pt win
Goodwood 4.55 – Time Voyage – 1.5pts e/w
