Trainer Andre Fabre has confirmed Earthlight will swerve the Qatar Sussex Stakes at Goodwood in favour of a trip to Deauville.
Connections were understood to be considering a run out on the Sussex Downs next Wednesday to add to an already hugely competitive field.
The decision taken by Fabre and owner Sheikh Mohammad signals their intention to stick to sprint distances long-term.
The three-year-old extended his unbeaten record when returning to action in the Qatar Prix Kistena at Deauville earlier this month, and Fabre is set to take his charge back to France for the Prix Maurice de Gheest on August 9.
“We have decided against running Earthlight at Goodwood,” said Fabre. “He will wait for the Prix Maurice de Gheest. He is proven in these sort of sprint races so there is no point stepping him up [in trip] yet.”
