Lyons surprised by Even So’s Oaks win

Ger Lyons says he has no idea where Even So will head next after she shocked even her own trainer with victory in Saturday's .

The daughter of Camelot was sent off as a 10/1 chance at the having failed to impress when victorious in a trial at last month. However, she tracked pre-race favourite Cayenne Pepper nicely to the furlong pole, keeping plenty in hand before launching her attack.

Colin Keane guided his mount into the lead with 100 yards to go and was able to power clear of the field to score by two lengths, handing Lyons his second Irish victory of the season following on from Siskin's success in the 2,000 Guineas.

While Siskin was marked as a potential Classic winner, this time around Lyon admits he hadn't expected Even So to claim the honours at Irish Flat 's HQ and has therefore not looked ahead at where the filly could go next.

Lyons told the Racing Post: “It was lovely to watch, very different to Siskin. I couldn't watch Siskin at all, but I watched this one and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

“She a filly I always loved and physically she has transformed from race to race. I loved the way she did it at Naas, but I have to admit I didn't think it was good enough to win a Classic.”

“I'd be lying if I said I know where she's going next as I didn't think she was good enough to win an . We'll have to pay her some dues now and sit down and decide where to go,” Lyons added.
