Trainer Donnacha O’Brien has suggested that Fancy Blue could skip the Irish Oaks in favour of a trip to Goodwood.
O’Brien’s charge was heavily fancied to seal a memorable Classic double this weekend after winning the Prix de Diane Longines at Chantilly earlier in the month.
But the 21-year-old trainer fears the filly might not put in her best performance due to the quick turnaround and has suggested they will go to Goodwood for the Nassau Stakes on July 30.
O’Brien said: “She’s probably going to go to Goodwood for the Nassau Stakes.
“The owners have plenty of horses in different places so I’ll have to speak with them and finalise plans, but I’d say she’ll go to Goodwood.”
Donnacha’s father, Aidan, will be responsible for half of the 12 fillies still left in the field for Saturday’s Irish Oaks.
