A high quality day of action across two cards awaits and I
can’t wait to get stuck in. I play my cards early at Newmarket as I have tipped
two in the first two races. First up is SHE’S
SO NICE for Karl Burke who knows a good filly when he sees one. The fact
she lines up here suggests her trainer thinks a bit of her and she ran very
well at Thirsk on debut. I think the front three there are worth following and
the selection here can count herself slightly unlucky as she had quite a rough
passage and could have finished closer granted a cleaner run. Still, it was a
good run and I expect her to take another step forward here which should see
her going close.
If the
first selection goes in, I may be asking my partner to PASS THE VINO as I will be in a celebratory mood. Paul D’Arcy’s
star sprinter proved progressive as a three year old and reappeared this time
around with a promising run in a race which has worked out well. He loves the
Newmarket 6f course and although the favourite looks strong here, I do fancy
the selection to run a big race at a decent price (at the time of writing).
I
mentioned about the strong Thirsk race which the first selection ran in and I’m
banking on that form being strong as I quite fancy the third, MISS NAY NEVER, to ruffle a few
feathers in the Listed Marygate fillies race at York. John Quinn is another who
knows a sharp filly when he sees one and he has spoken highly of this filly
already. She ran over 6f the last day but this drop to 5f should really suit as
she showed plenty of pace before running out of gas late on at Thirsk. The
favourite should take all the beating but if she doesn’t fire then I’d hope my
selection will be picking up the pieces.
I’m thinking the Musidora isn’t
one of the stronger renewals in recent years and therefore I’m tempted to play
one at a price. Ricetta hasn’t impressed me too much and is only favourite due
to her connections. Pocket Square, I do like, but connections have sounded cool
over her chance after an interrupted Spring. Therefore I think recent Haydock
winner, ALBAFLORA, has a right
chance at 16/1. Ralph Beckett’s filly is very well related and showed plenty on
debut as she took what looked a strong novice event on paper. The third has
since come out and won well and providing she has come on for that run I think
she should be hitting the three here.
