John Gosden says a decision over whether Frankly Darling will go for the Investec Oaks next month will be made in the next 10 or so days.
After Gosden and his leading rider, Frankie Dettori, just lost out in the second race at Royal Ascot on Tuesday, the duo managed to pick up the victory in the following race, the 14:25 Ribblesdale Stakes.
Under the guidance of the Italian jockey, the Mr A E Oppenheimer-owned charge showed a good turn of pace over the final few furlongs to win by a length-and-three-quarters from Ennistymon in second.
Following that performance, Frankly Darling has been cut by several bookmakers for the Investec Oaks, which takes place at Epsom on July 3, and Gosden says a discussion will be had over a trip to Surrey.
“The filly has done very well. She only ran once at Chelmsford at two and luckily got in on the first day back at Newcastle. If I hadn’t got her there I couldn’t have got here as we’re playing catch-up,” he said.
“She’s learning about racing and was pretty raw still and green in the first part but certainly powered away. We’ll see how she is over the next ten days and make our mind up about the Oaks. Mr Oppenheimer is a sportsman and he’d like to go I’m sure.”
