Richard Kingscote expects Lauded to be sent to Royal Ascot next week after the duo combined to win at Haydock Park on Monday.
Trained by Tom Dascombe, the two-year-old produced a fantastic performance to overhaul a strong field, that included runners for Mark Johnston, Saeed bin Suroor, William Haggas and Richard Hannon, to land the EBF Novice Stakes.
Lauded, owned by The Manor House Racing & Partner, finished a comfortable four and a half lengths clear of Bin Suroor’s Fast Start in second, while Johnston’s 11/4 favourite Meshakel ended up third.
The powerful performance has now put Dascombe’s charge into Royal Ascot consideration, according to Kingscote, who came away unscathed from a car crash last week to triumph in Merseyside.
“He’s been like that at home, very professional,” Kingscote was quoted as saying by sportinglife. “I was really pleased with him, he quickened up well, raced on his own but still carried on straight and put his head down nicely. It was very promising.
“I think Ascot was the goal. From what we’ve seen elsewhere and what he’s just done there, he ought to be going really.”
