Victor still in line for Longchamp return

Trainer Andre Fabre has revealed Victor Ludorum is almost certain to get a crack at the Poule d'Essai at ParisLongchamp next month.

After two months off because of the coronavirus pandemic, French made its return on with the headline meeting coming at , which threw up more than one surprise winner.

Victor Ludorum, who was unbeaten in three starts at two, was sent off a red-hot favourite for the Prix De Fontainebleau, but he failed to produce a performance that replicated his price and had to settle for third place.

Despite failing to pick up the win, Fabre was not disheartened by the three-year-old's run and a return to Longchamp for the Poule d'Essai – the French version of the 2,000 Guineas – remains firmly on the cards.

“They broke nicely and then suddenly the race slowed and he was forced to go wide,” he was quoted as saying by Racing Post. “He fought for his head a bit and with the ground like that I am not 100 per cent disappointed.

“I always felt he might be better over a bit further. With Earthlight being rested I am almost sure I will run Victor Ludorum in the Poule d'Essai. Even though he was beaten today he'll run well.”
