Trainer Freddy Head admits racing in France will be “very competitive” when it returns next week, with over 1000 entries for Monday's three meetings.
Fixtures are set to take place at Longchamp, Toulouse and Compiegne on May 11, as racing in Europe makes it's long awaited return after an enforced break since March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The unbeaten Victor Ludorum is amongst those horses expected to run on Monday, with Sottsass – third in last year's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe – and Head's filly Khayzaraan are also due to return to the track.
Head is not surprised that so many horses have been entered for Monday's return, telling the Racing Post: “We have missed two months of races, so people are eager to run and to get some money.
“All the horses are going to be running, which means it is going to be very competitive and the races are going to be very tough.”
One horse that would won't feature on Monday though is Earthlight, with the Andre Fabre-charge a notable absentee at the latest forfeit stage for the Prix de Fontainebleau at Longchamp.
