Trainer Denis Hogan believes Make A Challenge could compete in the Prix de l’Abbaye at later this year after his 2019 successes.

The four-year-old won six times last year, impressing at , and the before ending his campaign with a fifth place in the Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes at in October.

Hogan was delighted with his work last year and plans were in place for his stable star to be brought back this month but he’s had to bide his time due to all being suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Hogan has high hopes for Make A Challenge when the action does resume and has the Irish Champions Weekend in September in mind as one eventual target ahead of a possible tilt at the Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp in October.

He told Sporting Life: “He was a revelation last year. We had intended starting him back in a Listed race at at Easter, so he is ready to go now.

“He is good over six furlongs, but five furlongs on soft ground is probably ideal for him. The Flying Five on Irish Champions Weekend is an obvious target for him this season and, depending on how the season pans out, we would have to have a look at the Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp.”
