SATURDAY saw a number of horses out on the recently opened
Limekiln gallop here at Newmarket, I have never seen the Limekilns looking in
such good order, a mild winter here at Newmarket helped, I hope you like my
photo of the Limekilns, to me there is no better place to be on a lovely warm
spring morning, especially when the Swallows return and are flying around in
all their glory, it is heaven.
CHARLIE Appleby had PINATUBO do a nice breeze under Aaron Jones on
Saturday but I am far from convinced the son of Shamardal will be a shining
light this season, he has never been a brilliant worker on the gallops but I
have not seen a great spark yet from him and have been disappointed so far.
SIR Michael Stoute had HIGHEST GROUND moving into stronger work
at the weekend and the son of Frankel has thrived during the winter and has
filled into his frame and strengthened up very nicely and look a lovely
progressive colt for the Freemason Lodge yard.
STOUTE two-year-old inmates DIVINE HERALD – KING CAPELLA –
GEOMETRIST – all cantered away nicely and will see the racecourse as and
when the master of Freemason Lodge feel the time is right but all three are
very nice types and will do well for the yard.
JOHN Gosden had a number of juveniles working away that look
very attractive nice types including SIDE SHOT – ALTO VOLANTE – ALPHA KING –
all three will make their mark when the Clarehaven trainer introduce them onto
the racecourse this year.
IN the William Haggas team I like the look of FIREWORKS, he is a
lovely juvenile by Kingman out of Miss Plimsoll, this bay colt was not foaled
till April so has done well to be as forward as he currently is but the
Somerville Lodge handler will know the right time to give him his first look at
the track.
HOPEFULLY we will have racing back again soon in some form but
we must be patient and keep safe and well in these difficult times, make no
mistake, we will have the horses well ready to perform when we get going again.
