Cromwell hints at Saudi Arabia trip

Trainer Gavin Cromwell has hinted Princess Yaiza could head to Saudi Arabia for a run next month.

The five-year-old has endured a tough time since she was last seen in action in the Breeders' Cup in November 2018. You can find action in the market with our friends at horsebettors.com, with meetings at , and to come this Saturday.

Princess Yaiza came home ninth in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf, which was due to be her final outing for Cromwell after her owners felt a stay in the US with leading trainer Christophe Clement would be the best option.

However, she has returned to Cromwell's yard after a torrid spell on American soil and the County Meath trainer is assessing options.

Cromwell has hinted that the Neom Turf Cup, a $1million contest on the undercard of the Saudi Cup on February 29, could be on the cards.

“Princess Yaiza has been back with us a few months and we're very happy with her,” Cromwell said.

“She never ran after the Breeders' Cup. She had a few niggly problems and she's now back with us, which is great.

“She could go to Saudi if she gets the invite. She's not going to be covered this year, so hopefully we'll see her here (Europe) later in the year.”
