Dettori determined to break Melbourne duck

Jockey Frankie says he would love to break his duck in the before he decides to retire from .

The Italian has twice been a runner up in 's prestigious race, finishing second on Central Park (1999) and more recently aboard ' Max Dynamite in 2015.


Dettori finds himself racing in the US and across the globe but the 48-year-old is still clinging to the hope of a win in .


“It [Breeders Cup] has got that Ryder Cup feel. We are going to their back yards with our best trying to win,” said Dettori.


“That's what makes the Breeders' Cup greater for us because when we do pull it off it really means something.


“In fashion, they like to knock us down all the time, as they do in the Ryder Cup, and it's probably the only time when I go there that I feel like I am representing Europe, not just myself.


“As for Melbourne, it's amazing I have never got to win it yet. I've been second twice, but that's another big race you can watch on Sky Sports Racing and hopefully one day I will get to win it.”
