Trainer Charlie Appleby has confirmed Old Persian could race at the Curragh on Saturday just days after his win at Royal Ascot.
The three-year-old secured the fifth win of his career during Friday‘s King Edward VII Stakes.
Old Persian impressed with jockey William Buick on board and Appleby admits the Group Two contest was a warm up for the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh.
Connections are yet to confirm their plans but Appleby insists a trip to Ireland is being considered.
Speaking on www.godolphin.com, Appleby said: “Old Persian has come out of his race very well and I am very pleased with him.
“I have had initial discussions about the Irish Derby with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed and he has agreed to review the situation before the supplementary entry deadline on Tuesday.”
