Anibale Fly will return to action in either April’s Randox Health Grand National or the Irish equivalent, according to connections.
The JP McManus-owned gelding impressed at the Cheltenham Gold Cup earlier this month, finishing third behind winner Native River and favourite Might Bite.
Frank Berry, racing manager to McManus, has confirmed the eight-year-old emerged from her Prestbury Park heroics unscathed and he is now set to run in either the Grand National at Aintree on April 14 or the Irish equivalent at Fairyhouse on Easter Monday (April 2).
“He’s come out of the Gold Cup very well. He ran very well and stayed on nicely,” said Berry. “We’ll see how he is and we’ll make a decision early in the week here where he’s going.
“He has the two options and he’ll definitely go for one or the other.”
If Anibale Fly does run in the National at Aintree then he will be looking to become McManus’ second winner in the prestigious race, following on from Don’t Push It’s triumph in 2010.
