Bradstock’s hopes for Coneygree boosted by rain

Assistant trainer Sara Bradstock admits the recent rain in Yorkshire could mean Coneygree runs at Wetherby on Saturday.

The 10-year-old is entered in the bet365 Charlie Hall Chase this week but connections had been doubting his chances.

The drying ground had seen them consider other meetings but there has been several downpours in recent days.

Three millimetres have fallen this week and Bradstock admits that has now increased his chances of running.

She told reporters: “It’s very good news.

“I’ve been told all along the ground is likely to be good to soft and if that is the case, off we go.

“He’ll be better for the run, but this race could have been framed for him to make his comeback.”
