Richard Fahey is confident over Growl’s chances as he saddles the top weight for the Great St Wilfrid Handicap at Ripon on Saturday.
Growl finished fourth behind Lancelot du Lac in the Qatar Stewards’ Cup Handicap at Glorious Goodwood earlier this month and Fahey thinks there is a good chance the gelding can finish on top this time.
He told sportinglife.com: “We run four in the William Hill Great St Wilfrid Handicap at Ripon on Saturday and I?d have high hopes of winning it with Growl.”
Fahey believes the five-year-old can make the best of a favourable draw.
“He ran a good race to be fourth in the Stewards’ Cup and I just feel if he’s drawn right here then he’s good enough to land this,” he added.
“At Ripon they can win from a low number though and we’re down the stands’ side so it all depends on that – but I?d be disappointed if he didn’t win the race on his side, at least.”
