Trainer Charlie Appleby has confirmed Blue Point is right on track for the 32Red Sprint Cup at Haydock on September 9.
Blue Point has been given an extended break from racing following his third-place finish in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot – a race that was won by the Aidan O’Brien-trained Caravaggio.
The three-year-old bay colt is now being aimed for the meeting at Haydock and Appleby is looking forward to seeing his charge in action again after being impressed with the off-course progress.
“Blue Point is in good nick and he is cantering away now. All being well, he will head to Haydock,” he said. “The next couple of weeks will be telling when we step his exercise up again.
“He looks great and it is not like we are dealing with a horse that has been injured and is having his first run of the season. He has had that bit of a break and I’m very pleased with him.
“Blue Point brings some very consistent form to the table and I am looking forward to seeing him back in action.”
