Trainer Charlie Hills has decided to enter Magical Memory in a race outside of Group company at Haydock ahead of the July Cup.
It will be the first time in almost two years Magical Memory has not competed against Pattern company, and Hills is hoping the race on Saturday will answer some questions regarding the five-year-old’s form.
Magical Memory came in second in a Group Two on his return at York but finished last in Royal Ascot‘s Diamond Jubilee Stakes.
Hills feels his charge could still contest the Group One July Cup at Newmarket but he admits that is not a certainty at this stage.
“Nothing at all came to light after Ascot. He scoped well and there is just a question mark why he ran like that,” he told reporters.
“He is still in the July Cup and he could well still go there. We will see what happens on Saturday.”
