Trainer Mark Johnston is contemplating pitching Permian into action for a seventh time this season in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown.
The son of Teofilo is still revelling in his success in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 23, having also claimed the honours in the Dante at York and featuring in the Epsom Derby so far since April.
And, while the time gap between Ascot and this Saturday’s Eclipse at Sandown is short, Johnston is confident that Permian can handle the Group One trip over a mile and a quarter.
“We’ve left him in and I wouldn’t rule it out,” he said. “The horse is well. It does come quickly (after Royal Ascot) but we said that last time, after the Derby.”
