Trainer Willie Mullins has confirmed that Wicklow Brave will attempt to defend his Irish St Leger crown at the Curragh in September.
The dual-purpose eight-year-old emerged an impressive victor in the Group One race last year, seeing off the challenge of the likes of Order Of St George and Trip To Paris.
However, the bay gelding failed to secure a victory on his return to the Curragh on Sunday, as he could only finish second to the impressive Rekindling in the Curragh Cup.
Despite that slight setback, Mullins was still pleased with how Wicklow Brave performed during that race and he went on to confirm that the gelding will return to the Curragh for his Irish St Leger defence in the autumn.
Mullins said: “I thought it was a very good run and we might look at finding something for him before coming back to the Curragh for the Leger.
“He’s a fantastic horse to be able to do it at that level on the Flat and also over jumps.”
