Trainer John Gosden is confident Pat Smullen can fill the void left by Frankie Dettori when he partners Cracksman on Saturday.
Dettori had been set to take Cracksman’s reins in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby but he is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury.
Gosden and owner Anthony Oppenheimer have now called on Smullen for Saturday’s race and the trainer has no concerns over the jockey’s ability.
“We have booked Pat Smullen,” he said, as reported by the Racing Post. “He rode for us at Royal Ascot. He’s a good jockey.”
Smullen had three rides for Gosden at Ascot, including Westerland in the Chesham Stakes.
