Aidan O’Brien says Wings Of Eagles is likely to lead a five-strong contingent for his stable in Saturday’s Irish Derby.
The Investec Derby winner will be looking to claim his second Classic of the season at the Curragh as O’Brien seeks to continue his domination of the Flat campaign having been crowned top trainer at Royal Ascot last week.
Ryan Moore looks set to take the ride on Wings Of Eagles, rather than Padraig Beggy, who was on board for his shock victory at Epsom.
Stablemates Capri, Douglas Macarthur, Venice Beach and The Anvil are likely to line-up at the Curragh as well, but Cliffs Of Moher will miss out as O’Brien targets the three-year-old colt at the Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.
Discussing his plans for the Irish Derby, O’Brien said: “Cliffs Of Moher is being aimed at the Eclipse but that’s what we’d be thinking during the week if everything is ok with them. We will find out what we want to run first before we decide what will happen, but Ryan always rides our first strings.”
