Trainer David Elsworth is erring on the side of caution and will not run Swiss Storm at Royal Ascot next week.
The three-year-old had been talked up as a potential Classic contender, as he won on just his second start at Newbury last September.
However, the bay colt struggled on his only appearance to date this year, finishing a disappointing ninth in last month’s Betfred Dante Stakes at York, and Elsworth has now confirmed the son of Frankel will swerve Royal Ascot due to minor injury issue.
“He won’t be going to Royal Ascot. He’s had a small issue that has put him back a month,” Elsworth said.
Elsworth is yet to confirm what Swiss Storm’s next race target will be, preferring to err on the side of caution as he bids to get the Godolphin & Lordship Stud back up to full fitness.
The trainer added: “He’s OK and we’re just erring on the side of caution.”
