Assistant trainer Mike Marshall says Pinzolo could be dropped back in class and trip for his run at Ascot later this month.
The six-year-old already holds an entry into the Hardwicke Stakes on June 24 but he could be moved into the Wolferton Handicap, which takes place earlier in the day.
Pinzolo has been busy over the winter with some impressive runs on the all-weather but returned back to the turf last time out.
The Ismail Mohammed-trained charge came home third in a Group Two back on the grass at Newmarket on May 6 and connections are now assessing his options.
Marshall feels the Wolferton provides a real opportunity to pick up a positive result in what looks like a strong field at Ascot.
“I think the next aim for Pinzolo will be Royal Ascot. The Hardwicke Stakes has been on the agenda, but at the same time there are other options we are looking at as well,” Marshall said.
“We might possibly drop him back in trip to a mile and a quarter for the Wolferton. He is in good form and has taken everything well. He is a happy horse and we have been on the right side of him.
“We know how stiff Ascot is and it would suit his style of running, but he doesn’t have to make it. He almost gets a second wind in his races, as when horses come by him he seems to run on again.
“Hopefully we will get him there in one piece and hopefully he will run a big race, but they are all tough races at Ascot.”
