Connections have confirmed Mekhtaal will go for his second Group One win in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The four-year-old was too good last weekend as he just beat Robin Of Navan by a neck in the Prix d’Ispahan at Chantilly.
Mekhtaal, trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, has only won two races to date but connections are expecting another strong run on June 21.
Harry Herbert, racing manager for owners Al Shaqab Racing said: “It was very exciting and he ran a terrific race. He could now go to Royal Ascot for the Prince of Wales’s Stakes.
“He has improved and is more mature this year. It was a really good run and it’s great to have won a Group One with him.”
