Trainer Hugo Palmer has confirmed Best Of Days will not be featuring in the Investec Derby at Epsom next month.
Best Of Days was victorious at Sandown in July last year in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes before finishing second at York the following month in the Tattersalls Acomb Stakes.
The three-year-old then won by a neck at Newmarket in the Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes in September and many were tipping the Godolphin-owned charge for a tilt at the Investec Derby.
However, that won’t be happening after Palmer confirmed the bay colt is not ready for the Classic and instead revealed the team would be deliberating a race to take part in beyond Epsom.
“Best Of Days won’t be ready to run in the Derby in eight days as he just needs more time,” he said. “He’s coming along fine but the race at Epsom would come a bit soon for him and we’ll look for something later on.”
