Trainer Clive Cox has confirmed that Profitable will miss Haydock on Saturday and focus on defending his King‘s Stand Stakes title.
The Godolphin-owned five-year-old, who won at Royal Ascot 12 months ago, looked in good shape when securing a second-placed finish behind Signs Of Blessing at Deauville earlier this month.
And Cox does not feel an outing in this weekend’s Temple Stakes is required ahead of the King’s Stand Stakes on June 14.
He said: “He’s not going to Haydock.
“Last year he went from the Palace House to the Temple, but we were forced to miss the Palace House this year which meant he went to France instead.
“That meant he ran a week later and it would have all just been a bit tight. I was pleased with him in France and he’ll now go straight for the King’s Stand.”
