Churchill looks to be on course to bid for a Classic double in the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas on Saturday at the Curragh.
Experienced handler Aidan O’Brien is getting his stall set of for another assault on the Irish 2,000 Guineas this weekend.
Churchill was tipped to feature in the Investec Derby at Epsom after his victory in the Qipco 2000 Guineas.
However, O’Brien has decided that the Curragh will be the next destination for his highly-rated runner, while he has other options for the upcoming Derby
He said: “It looks like Churchill will go for the Irish Guineas, and Lancaster Bomber (fourth at Newmarket) could go with him. I’d say it’s very unlikely that Churchill will go for the Derby.”
O’Brien added: “There are seven horses very strongly in the picture at the moment for the Derby.
“The three Leopardstown (Derby Trial) horses (Douglas Macarthur, Yucantan and Capri), the three Chester Vase horses (Venice Beach, Wings Of Eagle and The Anvil) and the Dee Stakes horse (Cliffs Of Moher).”
