Nico de Boinville is relishing his upcoming outing with Coneygree when they do battle with Sizing John at Punchestown next Wednesday.
The 27-year-old won the 2015 Cheltenham Gold Cup with the Mark Bradstock-trained 10-year-old, who has been working his way back from an injury he suffered when finishing third in last November’s Betfair Chase at Haydock.
And De Boinville is champing at the bit to get back on board Coneygree and look to oust current champion Sizing John in next week’s Punchestown Gold Cup.
He told the Irish Times: “It’s looking good and if we get him back to his best I’m really looking forward to the clash with Sizing John.
“It’s all good news coming from the Bradstocks and he goes there fresh and well
“He definitely wants a bit of rain but he excels in his jumping and travels so well.
“I’ve always wanted to come to Ireland with a good horse.”
