Harry Fry says neither Neon Wolf or American will run at Aintree as he would prefer both to head to Punchestown.
The Seaborough handler went away from Cheltenham disappointed after his top big hopes, Neon Wolf and Unowhatimeanharry, failed to deliver, with the former losing out by a head to Willoughby Court in the Neptune.
Meanwhile, American did not make it to the starting line in the RSA Chase due to unfavourable conditions but did romp to victory on soft ground at Uttoxeter the day after Cheltenham had concluded.
Fry says the next outing for both Neon Wolf and American would more than likely come at the Punchestown Festival at the end of April, revealing most of his runners at the Grand National meeting will be handicappers, such as Henryville and Thomas Brown.
Fry told the Racing Post: “Neon Wolf will be entered in the two-and-a-half mile novice hurdle (Grade 1 Tattersalls Ireland Champion Novice Hurdle) at Punchestown, and if he runs again it will be there, but it’s the last week in April and it will be ground dependent.
“American will have an entry there in the three-mile novice chase [Grade 1 Growise Champion Novice Steeplechase] but he needs genuinely soft ground and might wait until the autumn.”
