Neon Wolf is more likely to run in the Neptune Novices’ Hurdle‘ at Cheltenham but Harry Fry will make that decision on Sunday.
Connections had looked at the Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle for the six-year-old, who has won all three starts this season including the Grade Two Sky Bet Supreme Trial Rossington Main Novices’ Hurdle at Haydock in mid-January – downing Elgin by nine lengths in the process.
Fry has refused to commit to either race with the son of Vinnie Roe and, with just a few days to go to the start of the Prestbury Park showpiece, he is still to divulge Neon Wolf’s likely route.
However, the Dorset handler feels that conditions may dictate that his star performer will go out over the longer trip.
“The way it’s looking, it’s only going to keep getting quicker, so I’d say I’m leaning towards the Neptune,” he said. “That said, I agreed with the owner after Haydock that we wouldn’t need to make a decision until the morning of the declarations, so that’s what we’ll do.”
