Lil Rockerfeller is set to defend his title in the Totepool National Spirit Hurdle at Fontwell, according to his trainer Neil King.
A disappointing run in the Relkeel Hurdle at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day was a setback for the highly-rated six-year-old but the work behind the scenes seems to now be paying off.
With the ultimate goal being a return to Prestbury Park for The Festival next month, King is hoping Lil Rockerfeller will bounce back after his sub-standard run at Cheltenham last time out.
“I thought he’d win that race on New Year’s Day and he came back a sick horse, so he had an excuse for it,” he told At The Races.
“He was always going to have a break after that. He’s now back in great form and he worked really nicely on Friday morning.
“We want to go to the National Spirit at Fontwell first, a race he won last year.
“He’ll do another bit of work at the weekend and hopefully go there.”
