Jockey George Chaloner is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering multiple injuries after falling at Newcastle on Wednesday.
Chaloner was on board Woodacre on the all-weather and the horse suffered a fatal injury during the final furling.
After the accident, Chaloner was thrown off and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary with a possible broken foot and a suspected fractured vertebrae.
Wednesday’s incident is a real hammer blow for Chaloner, who was riding for the first time in 2017 after suffering a broken collar bone in November.
Confirming his injuries, he tweeted: “Thanks for all the kind messages. Getting settled in Newcastle Hospital for a day or two. Suspected fractured T8 and a broken foot.”
