Trainer Tony Martin says he is in no rush to commit Anibale Fly to any future races following a strong return on Saturday.
The seven-year-old has looked in good form since going over fences, winning on his debut at Navan in November, before coming second only to Coney Island in the Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse.
However, the gelding struggled in the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day and Barry Geraghty was forced to pull him up early.
Martin was delighted to see Anibale Fly return to winning ways on Saturday in the Woodlands Park 100 Club Novice Chase.
The trainer says he will give his charge the opportunity to fully recover before rushing back into action as they look to assess their options.
Martin said: “He was good (on Saturday) and has come out of it fine. He was disappointing in Kempton when the ground was quick enough, so it was nice to see him do what he did there the other day.
“We’ll see how he is in the next week to 10 days and make a plan from there.”
