Stupid, daft, outrageous, dim, idiotic and many more descriptive words that I couldn’t print here. The decision to sell off Kempton Park racecourse is about the worst racing decision for decades. What makes it far worse is the fact that the organisation selling it off was set up to protect racecourses but the selling price of £100million must have got them slavering about all the backhanders involved. Can I join the queue as an ‘advisor’ please? Eight decades of racing history has been thrown down the pan.
Most of what I have read about this decision concerns the jumps but there is a serious question mark over the All Weather course. Most punters know that a horse is born either right footed or left footed and will only run well on a track which is the right direction. Kempton is the only right handed all weather course in Britain. The only other one is in Dundalk in Ireland. So where the hell are the trainers to run their right handed horses now?
The solution is to keep the racing and build tower blocks round the perimeter with balconies overlooking the course. Owners could make fortunes by hiring out the balconies on race days.
Only 30% of favourites win handicap races and as that’s all we have now, due to the connivance of the BHA and the bookies’ reps on the board, I decided to run a trial where favourites were ignored and the lowest price I would consider would be 4/1. The trial ran till the 13th January when I totalled up these results. All win bets, 8/1, 10/1, 4/1, 9/2. They all won and the series concluded with a loser at 11/2.. I realised that I had found something special because I was using the same rules that I would use to locate a good favourite. 26 points in five bets. Unbelievable but soon after the trial ended Seven Clans made a very easy win at 4/1. All these bets are on the All Weather so losing Kempton racecourse hits hard here. There are between two and three bets a week and I am looking forward to a holiday in Bermuda this year. I have written an explanatory leaflet with the full results from last year. Get your copy by e mail or snail mail. SAE please. You will be shocked by what I have been missing by going each way.
Over the next couple of months I will try to find some systems that actually show a profit. I will start off with an old favourite of mine. Flat and All Weather system. Find a horse running within 10 days after a Course and Distance win with a claimer on board. It should be the same claimer who won on it last time. The logic behind the system is that the handicapper doesn’t have time to correct the weight to its true level and the claimer still gives it a weight advantage. You can expect a 40% strike rate at best. Check the draw to make sure the horse isn’t being set an impossible task.
The draw doesn’t matter if the horse is a front runner.
