Trainer Dermot Weld believes The Grey Gatsby needs just a bit of luck to become a top performer after adding him to the stable.
The six-year-old boasts four race wins, including the Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly and the Irish Champion Takes at Leopardstown, for Kevin Ryan.
The Grey Gatsby has also been placed on a further nine occasions to bring in more than £2.7million in win and place prize-money.
Weld has spotted the potential and moved to add the Grey to his stable, although the trainer feels he needs some luck to become a consistent performer.
“He has been a grand horse and perhaps he has been unlucky a few times,” Weld said.
“We beat him by a short-head one day in Royal Ascot with Free Eagle and sometimes the ground didn’t go his way.
“He just needs a bit of luck.”
